dinner party: tropical vibes
I am a sucker for a good, large floral print. Combine a large floral print with a tropical vibe for a dinner party, SOLD!
When I found these plates (from Dollar Tree by the way!), I was in love and couldn’t wait to find a way to use them. When I was the next one in line to hold a women’s group dinner party for the church my mom is a part of, and it happened to be summer time, I knew exactly what I was going to use these plates for. I found the napkins on Amazon. While I am grateful and definitely do appreciate a good disposable plate, sometimes you want the feel of solid dinner plates or china. When hosting, I LOVE going out of my way to add the extra touches and make my guests feel spoiled. It is actually fuel to my fire!
For the glasses, I stopped by our local thrift store to buy an assortment of fun cocktail glasses. I added some pineapple & flamingo wine glass markers & some umbrella straws. I wanted my guests to feel like they had just arrived at a tropical destination once they arrived.

The food
As I mentioned earlier, I wanted my guests to feel that they had landed at a tropical destination once they arrived.
Since this was a women’s ministry function, I came up with some fun non-alcoholic options for the beverages and one of my best friends made these amazing cookies! To order some, check out Kari with Cookie Therapy! She is my go-to when it comes to decorative cookies as they are not just beautiful, they are also quite tasty! I am not saying that out of bias. As an Event Designer & Coordinator, I am VERY picky when it comes to recommending treats & desserts. Or really, anything.
For the Aqua Fresca Recipes… just peel & blend up these fruits & herbs. Once blended, add them to your water dispenser full of water.
Pineapple & Mint
Cucumber & Lime
Strawberry & Basil

If you haven’t caught on yet, floral is also a weakness of mine. The way they change the atmosphere, making it softer and more intimate yet also being able to change the entire design with colors. I found the orchid at my local HEB and also purchased some smaller bundles of flowers to place in bud vases. I already had the spiderwood centerpiece but I added faux palm leaves that I purchased from Amazon and some citrus fruits, cut in half, to incorporate a fun addition of color.
