6 TIPS FOR THE BUSY HOSTESS
“OPENING OUR HOMES TO THE PEOPLE WE CARE ABOUT MEANS SHARING THE GREAT FEAST OF LIFE: OUR SPACE, OUR TIME, OUR MINDS, OUR HEARTS.” - MARTHA BECK
Life can get so incredibly busy. However, if you are anything like me, you love inviting people over and sharing life with them. Working a 40hr+ week, it is so easy to brush off inviting friends over because of being overwhelmed. Here are some of my favorite tips for when life is just too busy:
Champagne… your best friend
Creating a signature cocktail is so fun! Not to mention pretty. However, champagne is often overlooked when it comes to smaller gatherings. Keep it simple by just popping a bottle or add your own flare by filling a few decanters with your favorite juices. Add some strawberries or freeze some grapes to make it pretty!
Charcuteries… your other best friend
Whether simple or more detail oriented, I almost always have a charcuterie board available. At least in the beginning. They are the perfect “meal” for busy schedules. It literally requires opening packages and containers then laying things out on a platter. Done!
Tidy Up
You don’t have to clean every nook and cranny in your home. However, quickly tidy up the main living areas and clean the bathroom.
Make It Cozy
Make sure there is enough seating in the space where you plan to be gathering or spending the most time. Have a few throw blankets avaiable and light some candles throughout the space. You can even add a small floral arrangement for ambiance.
Create A Playlist
This does not need to be something you spend hours on. Look at your music app (Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, YouTube, etc) and choose a playlist. Many people have already compiled playlists that are perfect for this. “Easy Listening”, “Coffee Shop”, “Big Band”, the opportunities are endless!
Last but definitely not least, be present! Trust me, I know how easy it is to be distracted by the endless emails coming in and to-do list that seems to add to itself as minutes pass by. This time isn’t for that. This is some much needed R&R for you and those you are sharing your life with. Relax & catch up. Be sure to be present in this moment.
